Mark Seed Company Cyst Tech® Soybeans Testimonials
2010 Testimonials
Jacksonville, IL - Albert Evans who farms for Charles Smith reports on their Cyst Tech® soybeans. We rented a farm back in 2004 but the landlord told us we could not plant corn in the field opposite the front of the house and his picture window. We had seen the ads about Cyst Tech® from Mark Seed Co. and raising beans on beans and decided to give them a try. In 2004 we planted the Cyst Tech® A (CTA) soybeans and had average yields in the 55 to 60 bu range. In 2005 we rotated to the Cyst Tech® B (CTB) soybeans and had average to slightly better yields in the 60 to 65 bu range. In 2006 we rotated back to the CTA soybeans and our yield went to the 65 to 70 bu range. In 2007 we rotated back to the CTB soybeans and our yield increased to the 70 to 75 bu range. In 2008 we rotated back to the CTA soybeans and that year the field average across the scales was 81 bu. In 2009 we rotated back to the CTB soybeans and the field average that year across the scales was 84 bu. The field is still in beans and this will be the 7th straight year of beans on beans and I am shooting for 100 bu beans this year. I use commercial feritilizer when the soil sample calls for it and put 1 lb. of sugar, ammonium sulfate and citric acid on twice with the Roundup. I will be adding some 10-10-10 this year to the second application of Roundup as an experiment. The Mark Seed Co. Cyst Tech® program has been great for us and we will continue to use it as long as we can.
Vinning, IA - Dean Benda of Benda Ag Service reports on his Mark Cyst Tech® beans. We sell Drapper Bean Heads and needed an early bean so we can put on a combining clinic in the fall. The field was beans last year and we heard about Mark's bean on beans program and tried their 0819CTA's. The first short 10 acres went across the scales at 808 bu or 80.8 bu to the acre. The entire 50 acres averaged 69.75 bu to the acre and the clay side hills were in the 50's and the bottom ground consistently stayed in the 80's according to the monitor. The field will stay in beans so I will be rotating to the CTB soybean lines for next year and will be trying some Liberty Link beans...I will take 70 bu beans anytime!
2009 Testimonials
Gilmore City, IA - Al & Kym Hemmerson On May 2, 2009 we planted RR0626CTB on 40 acres of black flatland. We harvested our crop on October 12th. In spite of a wet season, we averaged 56-58 bushels an acre, 8-10 bushels better than any harvest we have had before. This is after only two years of planting Cyst Tech® soybeans.
2008 and older Testimonials
Chandler, MN grower Jeff Hulstein began planting Cyst Tech® soybeans in 2004. His crop consultant told him his SCN counts were so high that he should avoid beans and stick to corn. “My SCN counts were through the roof,” reports Hulstein. “My original counts were 30,000 eggs per 100cc soil and my average yield dropped to 27 bu./ac. Not one to give up, I contacted Mark Seed Company and planted my first Cyst Tech® soybeans in 2004. In 2006 an SCN test done in the same area revealed no SCN in the soil and my Cyst Tech® yields were between 40 and 72 bu./ac. My 2007 results were also good. Despite no rain from June to August, my Cyst Tech® crop stayed green and stood tall. My yields were 25 to 60 bu./ac. averaging 41.5 bu./ac. I’ll stick with Cyst Tech® soybeans!”
Ross Fruin of Huntley IL had SCN testing done in 2002. “The results weren’t that bad…the SCN count was not alarming,” said Fruin. “But current research showed SCN spreading in Illinois and I wanted to be proactive. I didn’t wait until I had a problem to react,” he said. “I called Mark Seed Company in 2004 after I read about their unique SCN control process - Cyst Tech®. I didn’t know anything about Mark Seed or their technology. This article explained that Cyst Tech® controlled SCN by using a rotational process of its CTA and CTB products. The CTA beans control SCN race and CTB controls counts. In 2004 I planted 900 acres of Cyst Tech® CTB at a 180,000 population. My bean yields were good and I was pleased with the product.”
Fruin continued, “I set aside 20 acres of irrigated farm ground to research continuous soybeans using the CTB and CTA rotation. My research results were exceptional. First year yields of 55 bu./ac.; in 2005, my CTA yields were 61 bu./ac.; in 2006, CTB’s yielded 70 bu./ac.; and in 2007, 71 bu./ac. with my CTA’s. Since 2004 I have planted 1,000 to 2,000 acres to Mark Seed’s Cyst Tech® soybeans. I used Warrior® at emergence and in July as a bean leaf beetle preventative but haven’t done anything else. Some years were wet and some were dry but I have gotten continuously positive results and am glad I implemented Cyst Tech® patented technology.”
Joe Dierickx, DeWitt IA, used a variety of SCN resistant seeds from 1999 to 2003. He was frustrated by his inability to grow more than 40 bu./ac. His SCN tests showed 8300 eggs per 100 cc of soil. He heard about Cyst Tech® and decided to give it a try. In his first year he averaged 40 bu./ac; second 45-50 bu./ac. Third year over 50 bu./ac. “I haven’t raised 50 bushel soybeans in this field for a long time so I’m very happy with the increase. I will be planting the CTA soybeans next year. I was very pleased to have finally raised 50 bu soybeans and when I retested my soil for SCN my Cyst Tech® CTA and CTB program had reduced cyst counts to 466 eggs per 100 cc of soil. I was very delighted to see my yields increase and my cyst counts decrease and I will be planting all Mark Seed Company soybeans next year,” said Dierickx.
Rick Kettley, Steward, IL says, “To see yields like I saw in my plot there are two key things you need to remember. You need to control SCN and you need to be aware of insect infestations”.
